HDPE Butt Welding

HDPE pipe is joined by butt welding — heating two pipe ends and fusing them into a single continuous length with no fittings to leak. We weld on site, to spec, so the pipe that goes into the bore is one sound, jointless run.

What it covers

  • Butt-fusion welding of HDPE pipe
  • Continuous, leak-free jointless runs
  • Welded on site to suit the bore length
  • Correct fusion parameters for each pipe class
  • Prepared and pressure-ready for pull-back

Butt-fusion welding machines set up at road intersection job site

Butt fusion welding is the standard method for permanently joining high-density polyethylene (HDPE) pipe. The pipe ends are faced flat, heated against a mirror plate to the correct temperature, then pressed together under controlled pressure as the joint cools.

The result is a continuous, monolithic pipeline with no mechanical fittings that could loosen or corrode. A properly fused joint is pressure-rated to match the pipe itself.

Our operators work with butt-fusion machines capable of joining pipes from 50 mm up to large-diameter pressure mains. All welds are logged and can be traced back to operator, date and parameters.

Butt welding is performed on-site alongside HDD bores and open-trench installations, keeping all work coordinated under one team.
