Utility Scanning

Before any bore starts, we scan and locate the existing services in the ground — water, power, fibre and more. Knowing what's already down there is how we keep a bore safe and on path.

What it covers

  • Locating existing buried services
  • Mapping utilities along the planned bore path
  • Reducing the risk of strikes
  • Informing a safe entry and exit setup
  • Clarity before the drill turns

Striking an uncharted buried service mid-bore is among the most costly and dangerous events on a trenchless project. Our utility scanning service eliminates the guesswork.

Using ground-penetrating radar (GPR) and electromagnetic cable/pipe locators, we survey the proposed bore path and mark the position and depth of all detectable underground services.

Scan results are provided as a marked-up site plan showing detected utilities, their approximate depths, and any conflict zones that require rerouting or hand-potholing to verify.

Scanning is standard practice on our own HDD projects and is also available as a standalone service for clients, contractors or municipalities planning any excavation work.
